Hello! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We did, and I’ll post a few pics of our activities on Wednesday.
****Manic Monday Linky Party is below this post, so if you don’t want to know my geeky side, scroll down now. I honestly won’t be offended!*****
I’m linking this up to verykerryberry’s ‘Secret Obsessions’ linky list. The aim is to share a bit of myself with you that doesn’t have anything to do with sewing.
You know how the name of the blog/site is Sew Happy Geek? Well, I’m not just a geek about sewing; I’m a geek about LOADS of other stuff too. One of them is history. Specifically, English royal history, especially the Tudors and Stuarts. It began with an obsession with Elizabeth I. In fact, I own over 60 biographies of Elizabeth I!
I also own a lot of books on other monarchs and high politics, so many that I have to stack them in two deep. I don’t buy books very often anymore because I’d rather spend the money on fabric. But for a few years, I gobbled up every Tudor and Stuart book I could find! I probably have well over 200 in total! Eeek!

That’s only one bookcase – there are FIVE in the living room, all filled up two deep with history, criminal psychology, forensic anthropology, graphic novels and sci fi, my extensive fiction collection and a collection of books on bipolar disorder. I really meant it when I told you I’m a geek!!
Linky Party Rules:

That’s so funny – I have the exact same historical obsession! During my day job, I’m a history teacher, but that one historical moment has caught my interest and my bookshelf is loaded with books on the Tudor/Stuart era. Glad to know I’m not alone!
What a brilliant post! I love to hear what people collect! xxx
I live with 2 serious geeks so I can relate to this- daughter is keen on Tudors even at her tender age (10) and husband is maths/sci so lots of books and related and a narrow set of genres! Thankyou Jenna for linking, I learnt a little about you and I liked it!x
You’re right, the link to my blog was wrong! I haven’t read much about Charles I, but I agree he would be totally frustrating to read about – don’t think I could come around to liking him. I’ve also enjoyed a few good books about the little princes in the tower and Richard III. I’ve read some convincing arguments that he didn’t kill them…so what happened to them???
Thanks for sharing
Loving the right royal geekery!
Royal Geek, I love it!
I’ve got an entire bookshelf devoted to Tudor history too! I thought I was the only one! haha!
That’s part of why the story of the princes is so interesting to me…because the commonly accepted reasoning doesn’t actually make much sense (Richard III was certainly better off without the negative publicity). I liked Weir’s book on the subject, and her historical fiction is pretty fun too. I’m currently reading “The Autobiography of Henry VIII” – it’s a loooooooong but interesting look at what he might have said if anyone had asked him to explain himself…
I think your my new bff. I have bookshelves briming just like this!
