Features, Giveaway Reminder, and What Would You Like To See?

Thank you so much to the many people who emailed me regarding yesterday’s plea for advice about my Plantar Fasciitis in both stupid feet. What I found most interesting is that most people said that the custom orthotics really helped them, which makes me feel a lot better about the prospect of shelling out £200+ for a pair. :S

And don’t forget to enter into my Fat Quarter Shop Welcome Giveaway!

Also, and I’ve been meaning to ask you this for a while, but what would you like to see more of? QALs? More personal stuff about me to get to know me? I think I’m already at the max for tutorials, unless I hire someone…which isn’t very practical when you make less than $20 per month. But occasionally I do more than sewing and quilting, and I wondered if you’d be interested in seeing a little of that?

Our most popular feature: Celtic Thistle’s handmade buttons. She’s got directions if you’re interested in making some for yourself. Plus she’s participating in the Sew. Happy. Quilt. QAL so she got brownie points too. 😉

And Amanda from All Kinds Of Wonderful used the cardboard from a shirt purchase to make an adorable sewing album:

Thanks all! If you’ve been featured and want a button, they’re over on the right sidebar. See you next Monday for another Linky Party!

  1. Really, the NHS isn’t offering to make you some?! Sheesh! Oh well, the non NHS ones are probably not made of grey rubbery stuff that make your feet all sweaty in the summer… 😉

As for other content, to be honest, I’ve just taken to wittering on about whatever I’m up to, and people keep coming back…

  2. I’m in the middle of trying to clean up part of my sewing room and taking a quick break. I read your post and wanted to make you feel a little better about shelling out the big bucks for those orthodics before I forget. I bought some orthodic shoes about 7 or 8 yrs ago now and then the inserts were the most expensive part but wow, what a difference they made. Anyway, those type of shoes might be costly but, I am still wearing those very same shoes and they look like they did the day I brought them home. So, while they are very expensive, they last a very long time. Those are not like the shoes you buy in a store like WalMart or another store similar to that which wear out in a year or less. You’ll probably get tired of wearing the same orthodics shoe before they wear out. They really made a huge difference though in the pain I have in my knees daily. I was very surprised at how much a difference the shoes made. Good luck.

  3. Glad that you got so much good advice on the feet.

I always enjoy reading more about the bloggers that I follow. I also love the inspiration I get when seeing what others are working on.

  4. Wow Jenna, thanks for the feature I am over the moon! The buttons are really easy to do so I am delighted they have proved to be so popular. I am thoroughly enjoying my first QAL too, so I would definitely vote for more of them, but I realise that there is a lot of work involved in putting them together. I think the response to your plea for advice tells you that your readers are interested in seeing about your life beyond sewing and quilting, so more of that too please!

  5. Thanks for the feature Jenna. I’ve used a couple of your tutorials and have just finished making a baby quilt from one so yes, I’ve found them really useful. I’m also hoping to find time to take a look at your block tutorials I think I need all the help I can get there! Thank you 🙂

  6. Custom orthotics really helped me when I was dealing with those issues. Might be worth waiting until the next time you are in the states though to get them, mine were not even $200 let alone pounds! Have you had cortizone injections – those helped a little bit too, but they are painful as hell the first several days! Feel better!
