Giveaway Winner, Feature, And Junk

The junk first: Went to the knee guy today – Prof Barrett. He’s a nice dude who had my dodgy knees figured out in seconds. I’m not sure whether to be happy or sad about this, but it appears I might need a patellar realignment in both knees. I just read through the info about it, which made me queasy, thus confirming my suspicions that I am, in plain language, a chicken shit. ;) It also confirmed my suspicion that I need to get Savi’s knees taken care of right away, as it’s clear I inherited mine from my mum, who got them from her mum, all the way back up the evolutionary trail to trilobites. And next time someone asks why my knees are so dodgy, I’ll roll my eyes and sigh *Bloody trilobites, can’t keep their knees in alignment…* because it’s perfectly clear whose fault it is. You can use that excuse for any other joint problems with my blessing. And don’t tell me your horror stories; I’m scared enough as it is!

Anyway, in happier news, I’ve got the giveaway winner! It was Maria, who said ‘thanks for the giveaway’. You’re Welcome. {I’ve sent her an email.}

The most popular link this week was:

Jeanette of Stamp Stitch Create, who made this sweet mini quilt for Ellison Lane’s Mini Modern competition, which I believe has voting open now.

And I’ll see you Monday for another linky party.

Too bad about your knees but honestly I’d love to hear more if you are willing to email me. I hae loads of problems with my knees that have to be more than just the tendonitis in my hips.

Really cute mini. reminds me of breezy summer days.

I remember seeing a physio for initial assessment after my knee kept dislocating (part of my hypermobility syndrome issues). She had me do all sorts of things with both knees for comparison, then said in a very accusing voice that my kneecaps were too small, sat too high up, and didn’t track straight, as if this were something I could have done something about! Funily enough the shoe inserts were to try and help combat my knee problems and they definitely helped. Hope the surgery isn’t too bad!

I’m so sorry Jenna. I have no horror stories to tell you other than to say, if you have ANY chance to fix those knees now DO IT! I have osteoarthritis in both knees with no cartilidge in either one at this point and that (along with a few other reasons) is why I am unable to work and am considered legally disabled. I won’t go into other details but will say you should do anything you can now to help yourself avoid what will happen if you don’t get it done. And yes, I TOTALLY understand ‘chicken shit’! LOL My body does not like having surgery at all and it reacts strangely to each one. I’m still dealing with problems from the four surgeries I had (2 different surgeries on each hand) 2 years ago on both of my hands. In fact, I’m headed back to the Ortho surgeon for another follow up today for those problems. I’ve been seeing him consistently ever since the surgeries and even he told me that while I need two other surgeries on my right elbow and wrist he is in NO hurry to put me under the knife again anytime soon because of the way my body reacts to surgery. All I can say is that I totally agree with his thinking there. HA GOOD LUCK!

When it rains it pours :( I am so sorry to hear about your knees :( Have they given you any kind of timeline for when this is going to happen, geez :( I’m just at a loss, you have been going through so much the last 9 months physically that I can’t imagine you now having to go through this too :( Feel better my friend I will be praying for you.

  5. Oh Jenna ; I am so sorry you have to go through this . I have no stories ; I just hope and pray the best for you ( and your daughter ) . We all have our crosses to bear ; yours seem to be compounded right now . God bless and take care …….. I’d bring you some comfort foods , but , by the time I got there , they’d be spoiled and not good …… :(

I am happy to report, I am still getting your updates, despite March changes, so I continue to follow, though I do not show up on your sidebar!

    Keepo going there!

Good luck with the knees! (choose parents more carefully next time…)

  7. Debbe says:

Are you my long lost sister? Feet problems and knee problems.

  8. Bonnie says:

I don’t think you’re a chicken shit at all! When I was just a kid, I was so terrified of surgery, I made myself a promise that I would run away if I ever needed one. Damn the consequences, I was running away! Still haven’t had any surgeries, but they would scare the shit out of me too. You’ll get through it just fine though, you’re one of the toughest chicks I know! Also, that featured mini quilt is SO retro-adorable!! Love it!

  9. Jeanette says:

Well, how cool was that! Here I am just checking out my favorite blogs tonight and there’s my little mini hanging up so proudly there!!
And, hopefully your knee problems will be better soon, it’s okay to be chicken, I would be too!!
