I Made A Thing! And Some Moving News

warning: written on this bloody ipad so the links aren’t all HTML. Ugh.

Oh my goodness, you guys have been SO supportive about my battle with depression (see post below)- I was overwhelmed at your kindness! I was afraid when I wrote the post that no one would even read it as I’d been away so long, but I really felt I owed you all an honest apology. Thank you so much!

And I’ve been sewing again! I’m a member of Romsey Quilters (http://romseyquilters.co.uk) and it’s their 30th anniversary this year so we’re making mini quilts to celebrate.ย Here’s mine:

What do you think? I got the tutorial and templates from Lee at Freshly Pieced (http://www.freshlemonsquilts.com/?page_id=1534) and I’m now hooked on making minis from her templates. Seriously, why didn’t I make minis before? I can nearly get one from start to finish in a single day. Talk about instant gratification!

And we have moving news! Apparently we’re moving Friday the 8th. I’ve paid for the movers, and even paid the extra so they will pack us up. However, there are still things we have to do and pack ourselves. I’m especially protective of my sewing supplies. (Aren’t we all?!)

I promise I’ll post pics of my new house soon! I probably shouldn’t post any now since technically it’s not ours yet and that would probably be a bit creepy…

I’ll be really glad when this moving thing is over. I’m so stressed that I guess I’m clenching my jaw all day long without realising it, so at night I can’t sleep because I’m in agony. Seriously, I didn’t get to sleep till 5:30! I’m so silly.

I hope you are all having marvellous weekends, and if you lived nearby I’d have you over for my housewarming party. If I ever get off my bum and have one. Maybe we could have a sewing day instead…

  1. We can have a sewing day whenever you fancy one. I have seduced two knitters to the dark side and they come over to mine. You just have to love dogs and strange smells! xx

  2. Love the mini, and good luck with the move. We avoid moving, this house for 14 years, last house for 30 years, before that some rentals, when we were first married.

  3. Such a beautiful mini quilt

So glad to hear you have a moving day – it’s a horribly stressful time… hope you settle in really soon xxx

  4. I really like it, and now I’m thinking of making a mini from one of those blocks too! I think the crisp clean and not overly fussy quilting you did really suits it.

  5. What a pretty pretty mini! Seriously, I LOVE the fabrics you chose. I hope your move goes smoothly!

  6. A lovely to hear from you Jenna, lovely sewing and good news about the move. I’ve been thinking about you often. I’ve also really been struggling with getting myself balanced since the end of the summer,I think I’m feeling much better most days…..we’ll see. Oh, and I’d love to come sew with you if I was close enough, we could make a mini!

  7. Your mini looks great – very professional. Instant gratification is what we need sometimes! When I moved house 4 years ago I wouldn’t let the movers take my sewing machine and supplies. I packed it in the car with me and the kids!! Try chewing gum to alleviate the gritting of teeth.

  8. I love your quilt. And a vacation to take care of deperession and moving is daunting. When I was going thru depresssion, it was mentioned that I use gum to keep my jaws moving, so that the clench wouldnt cause harm. Not to mention no sleep, like you have been experienceing. That season of my life is now over and so will yours be in time. Try to look at the light at the end of the tunnel. I actually used a picture of this idea that I kept where I could see it. Great reminder.

  9. The echo quilting turned out so beautiful! So now that you are hooked on mini quilts what will you do with them, that is my biggest issue, most of the ones I have made have become “picnic blankets” for Anne while she is playing. I’m so glad you are back!

  10. I know I’m really late replying to this but I’ve only just found you. I hope your move went okay – I realised the other day that in my whole life, and I’ve been alive quite a while now to say the least, I have never lived in a house more than 10 years. Maybe this time it will be as we have lived here now for 10 years and a few months.

  11. OMGoodness I love your mini quilt. I just so happened to have made this same block last week. I posted it on my blog too. I love paper piecing. I am happy to hear you have a move date and am praying everything goes smoothly for you and your family through the move.

  12. HI!Jenna, The mini quilt is the way to go for a while. Love the colours. Moveing is exciting something new to talk about and enjoy. We have been in our new house 4 yrs now and I love it. Can’t wait to see the photos. Nice to see you back on here.
