Welcome & Jelly Roll Giveaway: Sanourra’s Fabric Love
Hey, have you joined PLAY – a mini quilt competition with fabulous prizes? Read about it here! And Manic Monday Linky Party is still open too!
I’d like to welcome my newest sponsor, Megan from Sanourra’s Fabric Love on etsy. Take it away, Megan!

Hello, my name is Megan. I am the owner and proprietor of Sanourra’s Fabric Love, and I’m a textile addict. I started sewing in 1999, and I made my first quilt three years ago. I have since learned how to knit and I’ve fallen in love with the process.

Hullabaloo Jelly Roll, on sale in Sanourra's Fabric Love for $32. Click on the picture to see the listing.
After I was laid off from a job as an administrative assistant in 2009, I decided to follow my passion: I opened my Etsy shop with vintage fabrics and patterns. Since then, I have added many fabric collections and precut bundles from Moda Fabrics. I have started adding my own hand-dyed yarn and knitted creations to my shop as well.
For those of you wondering about my shop name, it just so happens that while I enjoy being crafty and creative, I’m also a bit of a gamer. Sanourra is the name of a character in an online game that I created years ago and has stuck with me. It’s a mixture of the French sante (health) and the English nourishment; creating nurtures my soul and makes me a happier, healthier person. I’m sure many of you feel the same way.
I feel truly blessed to have had the pleasure of meeting so many creative and kind people over the past few years while running my little fabric business from home. I have built a solid reputation for providing outstanding service and a satisfying online shopping experience to my customers because I treat them as I would like to be treated.
Seriously guys, Megan has some sweet deals in her shop, so go check it out!
And to top it all off, she’s giving away a blue Puttin’ on the Ritz jelly roll! Woohoo!
Here’s how to win:
- Be a SewHappyGeek follower – simply leave a comment telling me how you follow
- Follow Megan on Twitter
- Like Sanourra’s Fabric Love on Facebook
- Share the giveaway through Twitter or Facebook – there are handy buttons below to help you!
That’s 4 chances to win! The giveaway is open internationally, and winner will be chosen on Thursday 26 April using my And The Winner Is…plug-in.
My Giveaway Gets Bigger & StudioKat Handbag Patterns
You might have noticed I’ve got a new sponsor, Studio Kat Designs. Kat designs some seriously adorable and extremely practical handbag patterns and other nifty supplies. I asked if I could review one for her Welcome post, and look what I got! 2 lovely patterns from the lovely postie! I am so excited to try them. What I CAN tell you is that they’re very well written and very easy to follow. Making handbags is kind of a sub-section of sewing, unlike clothing or quilting. But if you’re scared to take the plunge into using your yummy fabrics for your own handbag (hello One of a Kind!), let me tell you – her patterns are tops.
So when I stop feeling full of cold and get back in my sewing room, I’ll be working on one of these and I promise I’ll give you an honest review of my experience. And remember, my friends, I’ve only been sewing for like 2 years. So if I can do it, you can. (Actually, that leads me to a thought – how much fun would it be to have a Sew Along of one of Studio Kat’s lovely handbags?)
Oh, and there comes a time when quilters with limited storage capacity (me!) must look at their stash and ask themselves: Am I really going to use This Fabric? And when the answer is…Hmmmm, probably not?, the quilter knows it’s time to share it with someone who will appreciate the fabric and even use it. Right? So I’m throwing more goodies into yesterday’s giveaway. Don’t worry, if you’re already signed up for it, you don’t have to do anything! Here’s what I’m throwing in:
There are 2 Lily & Will charm packs and 5 FQs that I think I’ve cut into a little bit. So 2 lovely people will receive a charm pack and some of that FQ bundle in the background. Not bad, eh? A 9 fat quarter bundle + charm packs + matching yardage? Cha-ching! So if you haven’t signed up, get on over there!

P.S. Because I write a non-Blogger blog, I am one of those unfortunates who will lose my Google Friend Connect widget soon. I really value you as a reader and follower, and I’d like to ask you to consider following me on BlogLovin’, a free service built specifically for people to follow their favourite blogs, or by Feedburner, which is an RSS feed. Thanks!! ![]()

Let’s Have A FQ Bundle Giveaway
Honestly, I’ve been feeling a little out of sorts lately, so I’m going to spread the cheer I’m not feeling by dipping into my own stash. Depression sucks, doesn’t it? I don’t even like The Doors, but the idea I might Break On Through To The Other Side is pretty appealing right now.
My other excuse is that I have over 1100 followers, which is way more than I had this time last year! So I’m giving away 9 FQs of Sandi Henderson’s Secret Garden, which is also available at Hawthorne Threads, Skye Reve Fabrics, and Fat Quarter Shop
********EDITED TO ADD:************

I’ve also thrown in 2 Lily & Will charm packs and 5 FQs that I think I’ve cut into a little bit. So 2 lovely people will receive a charm pack and some of that FQ bundle in the background. Not bad, eh? A 9 fat quarter bundle + charm packs + matching yardage? Cha-ching!
So here are the rules:
I’ll leave it open through the 15th of February and announce the winner on the 16th. Winner will be chosen by And The Winner Is… WordPress Plug-In. I might even throw in an extra prize of a handmade tote bag or something. Anyone can enter – I’ll ship internationally.
Entries:
- Leave a comment – Whatever is fine – maybe a joke or happy story?
- If you’re a follower – leave an additional comment letting me know
- If you follow SewHappyGeek via Twitter or Facebook, leave me a comment letting me know
- If you tweet or Facebook about it, that’s a bonus entry each – There are helpful buttons at the end of the post
That’s it! 5 possible chances to win this lovely FQ Bundle!

Thanks!! ![]()

Fat Quarter Shop Sponsored Blog-iversary Giveaway!
Hello! I’m doing this in a separate post today for simplicity’s sake. So here goes!
A year ago today, I started out at www.excellcrafts.blogspot.com. I had no idea there were thousands of craft bloggers; I’m kinda glad I didn’t know, really.
I soon decided a name change was necessary, so www.sewhappygeek.blogspot.com was born. But it wasn’t long before I started to want things that Blogger couldn’t provide. So I learned some HTML and started my own website, www.sewhappygeek.co.uk. I am so glad I did!
In the past year, my tastes in sewing have become a bit more specialised: I do a lot of quilting and only a little bit of handbags and other things. So my blog has changed too. But I still try to do a tutorial every Tuesday, and I freely admit that connecting with you guys has been the #1 thing that keeps me going.
So, with all that, I think it’s time for a celebration, don’t you? In order to celebrate my new pattern, Square It Up, which is on sale in my etsy shop and on Fat Quarter Shop’s website, the kind fabric fairies over at Fat Quarter Shop have generously offered a quilt top kit to one of my readers!
Here’s what you’ll get:

- a copy of my new pdf pattern, Square It Up, available for $8 at Fat Quarter Shop.
- one layer cake of Sophie by Chez Moi from Fat Quarter Shop
- 1/2 yard of a coordinating solid for the sashing
- 1/2 yard of Sophie yardage for the center and corner squares
That’s worth nearly $60!
Here’s how to enter:
- Go to Fat Quarter Shop and tell me your current favourite line.
- be a follower of my blog (just tell me how you follow – RSS, GFC, etc)
- be a follower of the Jolly Jabber, Fat Quarter Shop‘s blog & leave me a comment telling me
- if you tweet or facebook about this giveaway, let me know – there are handy icons at the bottom of the post to make it easy
- BONUS: if you follow me via Facebook or Twitter, tell me which.
That’s 5 chances! Have fun! The giveaway is open till Saturday, 3 September, when I will do a post announcing the winner. If the winner has left a correct email address I’ll try to email as well. Winner chosen using the And The Winner Is plug-in on WordPress.org.

Feature Friday and Win $30 For Fabric! Mug Rug Challenge
Hi everyone, this is going to be short and sweet as I have a horrible cold and a tongue ulcer simultaneously and want to go eat ice cream for dinner. Tomorrow we’ll be announcing the winners of the Stashtacular massive giveaway, so make sure you check in!

And I also want to mention the Summer Mug Rug Challenge that my friend Kris Garst is hosting over on Facebook. Click here to read the rules. All you have to do is join the group, and when that’s sorted you simply add pictures of mug rugs you’ve made for the chance to win a $30 gift certificate to THE FABRIC STORE OF YOUR CHOICE!!!! Woohoo! I’ll be asking for votes next week

Mary over at Craft Buds published this fantastic, easy to understand tutorial for her dress/skirt. Seriously, everything about the tute is good – informative photos, good instructions – If you’ve been hot this week and want a maxi skirt, go check this out!

Wendy from The Crafter’s Apprentice felted the solar system from a kit available on etsy – isn’t it cute?
And I’d love to give a shout out to my lovely friend Ruth over at Cherry Coloured Twist, who ordered labels from Spoonflower – They’re smaller than the ones I ordered and now I’m convinced that I too NEED smaller labels for smaller stuff (doll quilt swap, mug rug swap, etc?). Aren’t they gorgeous? Sigh. If you want to make some, read Julie Herman’s VERY useful post here, and read my post here to avoid making the mistakes I made. Seriously, read them BOTH!
Well, I’m out. Back tomorrow for the massive giveaway post – there are going to be a TON of winners!
Stashtacular! Thursday
Today’s Stashtacular! post is up over at Kelly’s Blue Bird Sews. It’s the story of how we ended up creating this stash celebrating event. I must admit much of the creativity of it and most of the good ideas come from Kelly.

(p.s. In her post she lists the giveaway prize as a $25 gift certificate from 1Choice4Quilting, but I messed up so it’s actually a jelly roll from Fat Quarter Shop. Next week’s is the $25 over at Spontaneous Threads. SORRY!)
The giveaway is still open here, so get in on it!
And my lovely Sew Bee Joyful quilting bee still has a few openings. You can read the info on the Flickr group’s page.
Tomorrow’s post will be late. My parents are coming over from Texas and we have to entertain them, but I promise I’ll get it done, even if it’s on Saturday morning!
