Manic Monday Linky Party

Sorry for the late post! I taught at the college today and then got so wrapped up in sewing charity quilt blocks and listening to my new audiobook that I totally forgot to post!

On the house front: we had a couple come see the house on Saturday which meant that we had to stay up very late Friday painting the bedroom. It’s a nice neutral shade of magnolia now which I hate but since it looks brighter I’m not too fussed. Sadly the couple decided to make an offer on a different house but at least we had a clean house for about an hour. keeping this house clean is pretty hard with 3 people living in it! I hope someone buys it soon! Fingers crossed! And my tummy seems to be all sensitive again so I’ve been spending a lot of time curled up in bed with stomach cramps. Yuck city! It’s a bit more settled now but I’m still having to take meds for it. When it rains, it pours over here!

How has your week and weekend been? And I’m eager to see what everyone’s been up to in the links!

Linky Party Rules:

  • You can link anything you’ve created – an etsy shop, blog or tutorial, recipe or project, whatever.
  • You can leave up to 2 links
  • Please visit at least one other link and comment!
  • I’ll be featuring a few on the blog on Feature Friday
  • You are welcome to add my party button to your blog, but you don’t have to!

I’m in the Brit edition of Fat Quarterly Magazine!!

When I started this blog two years ago, I NEVER imagined I’d be in a magazine. And when Fat Quarterly first came out, I was so excited to have a modern quilting magazine that actually ‘gets’ us. It’s a real dream come true to have met with the FQ gang in London (even if I was hobbling a bit), and to have a pattern published in this issue of Fat Quarterly is SO amazing I kinda don’t have words for it.

So here’s the bag:

It’s called Je’taime Le Thames and it’s very roomy. Of course I’m not the only pattern in the Sew Britannia edition of Fat Quarterly, and I’m definitely not the best – I really recommend buying a copy of the magazine. There are some truly amazing quilts in there.

The Sew Britannia edition of Fat Quarterly is $8, and an annual subscription is only $28. If you follow Lynne at Lily’s Quilts and Katy of I’m A Ginger Monkey, you’ll know how good the magazine is. Oh yeah, and there’s a book out too, of blocks designed by the whole team – that’s a whole lot of talent in one book, trust me.

Manic Monday Linky Party & Features (& Giveaway Reminder!)

Hey, if you haven’t signed up for the Abakhan fabric giveaway, get over there now!

Hello!!! Sorry for the late posting today – I got my Mirena coil out and yikes! Cramps and everything. And because I haven’t had cramps or any of the more annoying aspects of being a woman for around 9 years, I’m not dealing with it very well. Actually, all I’ve done is sit on the couch and read. Perhaps a tad bit lazy but since I’m still fighting that low feeling, it simply feels like too much effort to do anything else. Is that pathetic?

Anyway, I have a couple of features from last week’s linky party:

I Quilt For Fun made this groovy scrap quilt using scraps from her own collection and some saved up from quilty friends – I’ll let you read the journey this quilt’s got ahead of it. What a cool idea!

Dorian of Ridge Top Quilts made this lovely 4 patch quilt top, adding a bit of the sublime into the centre with that bright orange/red diamond – perfect!

Sailor Mouth Swap Goodies Sent!

I must thank Allegory of {sew} Allegorical for setting up this delightful Sailor Mouth Swap. I had fun stalking my secret partner to figure out what kind of fabrics and colours she likes. I’m pretty sure she’s a big fan of Tula Pink, so I made a nice tote bag:

I got The Birds and the Bees fabric from Brenda at Pink Castle Fabrics. I LOVE the birds on it, so I’m happy that I’ve got a bit left over to make something for myself. Someday. BTW, I’m not showing you the curse word I put in there. If you want to know and won’t be offended, here’s the Flickr pic.

I also made a notebook cover from Cindy’s very useful notebook cover tutorial, using Art Gallery Fabrics provided to me by Hantex Ltd here in the UK. If you’re wanting to get your hands on some of this lovely fabric, Hantex Ltd has a stockist page to help you. I can tell you it’s gorgeous! (It’s the Modernology range by Pat Bravo.)

I threw in some chocolate and a fat quarter. I really hope my partner likes everything.

Thank you Allegory for organising everything! :)
