Siblings Together Quilt Donation
Hey, did you want to leave a link on Manic Monday Linky Party? It’s still open!
At the end of March, Lynne of Lily’s Quilts published a post about giving back to the community. I was really intrigued by the premise of the Siblings Together camp program, and her post has inspired me to finally finish the Cherish do. Good Stitches quilt that I collected blocks for a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away:
I asked the ladies to make whatever they wanted, in hues of orange, aqua, white and grey. I’m so pleased with how it turned out! I’ve learned the hard way that the best way to get really cool blocks in a bee is to let the members do whatever they want. Twice I’ve had bee members make a specific block, and the blocks are still in plastic bags in the studio, wondering when they’ll ever get used.
But this is different – so vibrant and alive. I am so ashamed of how long it’s taken me to complete the top and bottom, but at least now I’m on the right track and I’ll be basting it as soon as I go back to teaching after the holidays.
If you’re interested in donating a quilt to the Siblings Together cause, here’s the Flickr group with all the relevant information.
If you don’t have any fabric of your own to donate, there’s a fabric donation thread on there too.
I promise I’ll share lots of finished pics with you! I’m hoping to have it done by early May, but of course with the whole putting-the-house-on-the-market thing everything is getting pushed back. But at least we’re getting rid of stuff we don’t need anymore!
P.S. Because the Google Overlords want to force the entire planet into using their crappy social application, my Google Friend Connect has been cancelled. But you can still get me in your Google Reader (or any other reader) by clicking on the Feedburner (RSS) link below.
