Feature Friday & This Week I LOVE…

The most popular link this week was Ellyn’s (of Ellyn’s Place) excellent pattern review of this new Kay Whitt dress pattern:

This week I’m SO in love with this beautiful Grand Hotel by Jenean Morrison bundle from Fabric Shoppe, with 8 half-yard cuts for only $40 – the colours are so rich:

I’m also a bit enamored with Studio Kat’s lovely Ditty Roo pattern (only $12) in these lovely Kate Spain fabrics:

Hope you’ve got a great weekend ahead, and I’ll see you Monday for Manic Monday Linky Party (which WILL be published on Monday, I promise!)

Feature Friday & Fabric Love

Sorry I missed posting yesterday – I ended up running errands all over, with the predictable result that my knees were then too sore to sit bent at the computer. But they are getting better, really. And the results of the PLAY competition will be posted later today. :)

I’d like to send a bit of fabric love your way – this week I’m into Tula Pink’s Nightshade line – Brenda at Pink Castle Fabrics has a bundle of every print (FQs) for only $45!

The most popular links this week were:

Myra from She Taught Me to Love It made this lovely minky-backed quilt for her son – isn’t it fantastic manly?

And Mary from Mary Emmens made Noodlehead’s lovely 241 handbag while taking a break from making quilts. It genuinely makes me want to make one!!

P.S. Because the Google Overlords want to force the entire planet into using their crazy social application, my Google Friend Connect widget has been cancelled. But you can still get me in your Google Reader (or any other reader) by clicking on the Feedburner (RSS) link below. :)

Features, Quilt Show Goodies & Fabric Love

Here’s a small sample of fabric I’m loving this week:

Holy cow, Natasha at Skye Reve Fabrics is having a birthday sale – 20% off everything with the code BIRTHDAY!! Which means you could score this Amy Butler Lark 1/2yd bundle for only $15!!!

And I’m so in love with this Patty Sloniger fat quarter pack, available from Eclectic Maker for only £15 – so adorable!

And the most popular link was:

Jennifer at Knotted Thread shared her big reveal on this Retro Flowers quilt – isn’t it gorgeous? Well done, Jennifer!

And yesterday I went to the Malvern Quilt Show – and bought entirely too much fabric. Not that I feel *that* guilty about it. But I thought I’d share my joy:

I bought more Wonder-fil thread. I LOVE their Deco-Bob for piecing and using in the bobbin while quilting. It’s polyester and so, so thin and strong. I really recommend Wonder-fil threads – if they ever want to send me samples, I’m totally willing to review all the different types ;). I don’t know if they do this in their store, but at shows, if you buy 5 you get another free – the most expensive! And those sharp, thin Clover pins are perfect for piecing.

Yep, another Summersville charm pack, some solids to go with it, and a metre for matching binding. I have the urge to make granny squares – I’m hoping to come up with a no-waste method for large blocks. If I do, I’ll do a tutorial for you. :)

A couple of random FQs and some aqua and red FQs. I’m thinking they’d look nice in a Union Jack pillow?

I haven’t decided what to do with this yet – I may give it away, or I may decide to make a Union Jack pillow for a relative with it. I’m just not sure yet… What do you think? Would it work as a Union Jack pillow?

This fabric is crying out to be made into a bag with a matching cosmetic bag, isn’t it? Ah, London. How I love thee.

Well, I’m off to do more computer faffing. I’m really hoping to get some time with the sewing machine today, especially as I’m having double knee arthroscopy on Tuesday – I don’t think I’ll be sewing for a while after that!

P.S. Because the Google Overlords want to force the entire planet into using their crazy social application, my Google Friend Connect widget has been cancelled. But you can still get me in your Google Reader (or any other reader) by clicking on the Feedburner (RSS) link below. :)

Fabric Love

Would you like to get in on my giveaway? Or perhaps leave a link on Manic Monday Linky Party?

I wanted to show you pics of the 3 lovely drawstring bags I made in a jiffy, but this is the view from my window:

which means the light is crap. So I’ll concentrate on happier things than the English weather. Chief among them bright, cheery fabrics. As you know, I have sponsors to cover the costs of running this blog/website, and I am very grateful to them. If you’re a SewHappyGeek fan, please consider checking some of these out:

Fat Quarter Shop has a whole bunch of Blogger’s Bundles, but Amy Ellis’s is my favourite for sure. Only $45 for 15 FQs.

Fabricworm has this adorable Hello Luscious bundle of 10 FQs for $30. I love how the red makes the other colours look brighter.

Julie at The Intrepid Thread has some super lovely Woodland Trails by Sheri Berry (for R. Blake) bundles – this 23 FQ bundle’s only $46/£30!! It is SO adorable!

Jody at Fabric Shoppe has luscious new Heather Bailey fabric, Freshcut - this sweet FQ bundle is only $22 for 8 FQs! Such beautiful pinks that really pop against the aqua and green. You need some!

Natasha at Skye Reve Fabrics has a super lovely Verona Half Yard bundle for only $27 (I LOVE this line SO much!) – but if you want FQs, just convo her and she’ll do a listing for you in no time. I know because I’ve done it.

And you are officially allowed to freak out RIGHT NOW because Brenda at Pink Castle Fabrics has the new Bonnie & Camille precuts in – Vintage Modern! Oh. My. Gosh. It is a beautiful line! This 40 Fat Eighth bundle is $66.

And what, you ask, can I make with these fabrics BESIDES quilts? Well, I’ve got a sponsor for that too:

Kat at Studio Kat Designs has TONS of really lovely handbag patterns for sale, as well as handbag making notions. I really like this 4-pocketed bag, as well as the Odyessy backpack.

And if you’re in the UK, you can now look for craft supplies on The Sewing Directory, which is growing bigger by the day. You can even look seperately for online retailers or shops local to you. Plus she’s got a workshop list if you want to learn a new skill,
