Hello! Did you notice I didn’t blog yesterday? I bet not! I had a foot appointment and was hanging out with a special friend who’s been having a tough time lately. So I didn’t get time. The foot appointment went well, considering what it looked like a few weeks ago, but I’ve also been referred on to the specialist for having plantar fasciitis in BOTH feet. It’s SUPER painful and I’m going to have to 1) wear trainers or other good shoes that are ugly and 2) rearrange my sewing studio so I can do most things sitting down. ****If you have any advice about brands of shoes I should be looking at for plantar fasciitis relief, PLEASE leave a comment or email me: jenna@sewhappygeek.co.uk!****

  9. Oh you poor thing, doesn’t sound nice at all, but hopefully it will get better over time. I have some trainers, for my ‘running’ which have great arch support, feels like walking on air almost, will have to dig them out and let your know what make they are.

  21. I am a follower of this blog. 🙂 I hope you get some good shoes for those aching feet. I know Crocs are ugly but I think they have shoes that relieve Fasciitis. My feet were hurting (probably not as bad as yours) and I got some crocs. They sure help me. I think I bought the RX line of Crocs. Maybe they wouldn’t be suitable all the time, but perhaps nice to wear while in the sewing room.

  28. I follow your blog. I have PF too. Try stretching your calves a few times a day (about 30 secs each leg). I wear Danskos and they seem to help. Merrills and Clarks are good too. It does go away! You can ask about PT for it (or google it) for more help. Good luck!

  107. I have been a follower of your blog for a while.
    I had plantar fasciitis for 4 months last year. I had it in both feet, I could barely walk for the entire 4 months. I will pray for you. It’s terrible. I kept cans of green beans in the freezer and used them to ice my feet. They fit in the arch of the foot really well and they stay cold very long.

Don’t know how to fix this, afraid if I delete one, I’ll delete both. Sometimes it is just easier to go with technology rather than try to fix it.

  149. there are some taping techniques to support plantar fasciitis and they work quite well… of course it’s not a cure, but it might be something to try if you know you’re going to be on your feet for a while to reduce the pain. google “plantar fasciitis taping”.

  157. I’m a follower! Sorry about the Plantar Fasciatis – I’ve had it and it can be so burning painful!!! You have to wear athletic shoes any time you’re on your feet (even if you get up in the night to go to the bathroom!), something that has good support. Have you tried New Balance walking shoes? I think they’d be what you need. Also – if needed you can get night splints. See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsefMtyEEDg It keeps your foot in the right position while you sleep (or relax in a chair).

    Also I had plantar in one heel and it was from living in loose fit moccasins I reckon for years and years. I tried the shoe inserts you can buy and if you persevere with them, they do work but I gave up since they were too painful on the underside of the foot arch.
    I started to wear more sensible, firm footwear with slight wedge heels, so the foot was rasied more and not as flat to the floor?
    I didnt ever wear ugly ones though and trainers come in so many styles now I found plenty that were more supportive and not bad looking too! Bit by bit Ive been able to move into wearing different styles and I avoid wearing flat, flat shoes….so hope you too can find a way round the pain and discomfort too! Good luck 🙂

  185. I have PF too and I have found that just doing foot stretches every morning has helped a lot. That and wearing sandals in the house. I did shell out the big $$$ for some special shoes that are suppose to help with PF, but I haven’t found any big difference…but then again it seems to be a bit better…LOL

    The doctor you are being referred to will give you great suggestions on shoes. Also, I have some friends who are runners and one of the them have had some foot problems. Her best advice on shoes came from a GOOD running shoe store; not a chain store but a store that true running athletes shop at for good supportive shoes for long distance marathon running. Those people will give you great advice on shoes if you have foot problems.

    oh, and for plantar fasciitis, I got some lovely NHS insoles with built up arches, haven’t they offered you them? They make them to measure to fit you perfectly. Whatever you get must have goot arch support.

  233. So sorry you are having foot pain. I went through heel pain for four years, after 4 rounds of PT and one surgery, I bought a pair of what I refer to as “magic” Shape Ups by Skechers. The pain went away and has not come back. Good luck!

  308. I am a follower. I too have PF symptoms though I’ve never been to the DR for true diagnosis. I’ve found that stretching the feet and wearing shoes that support my full foot help best. (I love slip on shoes and sandles but have to get some with backs and support.) It’s worth the extra bucks for better shoes. My job had me working on my feet before and had the PF symptoms in both feet also. It’s no fun. Take care of them!!

I just received a pair Dansko, yes spendy but worth it. Oh and they are red. I don’t need the insert when I wear them and my foot feels great.
