Welcome & Giveaway: Fat Quarter Shop!

Hello! Did you notice I didn’t blog yesterday? I bet not! I had a foot appointment and was hanging out with a special friend who’s been having a tough time lately. So I didn’t get time. The foot appointment went well, considering what it looked like a few weeks ago, but I’ve also been referred on to the specialist for having plantar fasciitis in BOTH feet. It’s SUPER painful and I’m going to have to 1) wear trainers or other good shoes that are ugly and 2) rearrange my sewing studio so I can do most things sitting down. ****If you have any advice about brands of shoes I should be looking at for plantar fasciitis relief, PLEASE leave a comment or email me:!****

On to the show! As you probably know, Fat Quarter Shop is my premium sponsor. Their team has to be some of the nicest quilty people on the earth. They’re a dream to deal with, and when you order from them, you know you’re going to get exceptional service. But let me share what’s new:

You knew I’d find my way to the bird fabric first, right? I am SO in love with this line, Imperial Pheasant. This FQ Bundle would make an amazing quilt! You get 12 FQs for $38.99! Wow!

This lovely new Citron Gray by Michael Miller Fabrics bundle is only $41.99 for 13FQs! Sweet!

And I just had to share this Timeless Treasures book fabric with you – $10.50 per yard. (Have I mentioned I have over 200 biographies of Elizabeth I alone? Yeah, I’m a book addict too.)

I’m also a little in love with this Hopscotch quilt pattern by Bonnie and Camille. I’m thinking about making my baby niece’s quilt using this pattern… Only $8 and instant download!

Or maybe you’re like me and have a thing for layer cakes? This brand new Papillon by 3 sisters is so pretty! $39!

And as for the giveaway, Fat Quarter Shop has generously offered to give away 3 charm packs of Scoot by Riley Blake:

Isn’t it cute? So there will be 3 WINNERS! yay!

So there are 3 ways to win:

I’ll leave the giveaway running for a week, and draw next Thursday morning, 2 Feb 2012. I’ll be using my usual And The Winner Is… plug in.

I really value you as a reader and follower, and I’d like to ask you to consider following me on BlogLovin’, a free service built specifically for people to follow their favourite blogs, or by Feedburner, which is an RSS feed. Thanks!! 🙂

  1. Oh you poor thing, doesn’t sound nice at all, but hopefully it will get better over time. I have some trainers, for my ‘running’ which have great arch support, feels like walking on air almost, will have to dig them out and let your know what make they are.

    I follow you via GFC!

  2. I am a follower of this blog. 🙂 I hope you get some good shoes for those aching feet. I know Crocs are ugly but I think they have shoes that relieve Fasciitis. My feet were hurting (probably not as bad as yours) and I got some crocs. They sure help me. I think I bought the RX line of Crocs. Maybe they wouldn’t be suitable all the time, but perhaps nice to wear while in the sewing room.

  3. I follow your blog. I have PF too. Try stretching your calves a few times a day (about 30 secs each leg). I wear Danskos and they seem to help. Merrills and Clarks are good too. It does go away! You can ask about PT for it (or google it) for more help. Good luck!

  4. I always think I should do more standing up when sewing, I get up at the end of an evening feeling stiff!
Superb giveaway, my problem with FQ shop is they have too much nice stuff!
    I follow your blog

  5. I also follow you via Twitter – thanks for the great giveaway and good luck on the shoe hunt!

  6. Following you on Twitter now..don’t have FB. Your button to twitter did not work for me, I had to look you up…just wanted to let you know. =)

  7. I now follow Jolly Jabber – I am glad I read your post – I didn’t know FQ had a blog! THANKS!

  8. I love the Citron Grey range and the book fabric would be great for gifts for my son, who works in publishing. I have never purchased from the fatquartershop but I am seriously tempted now! Hope you get comfortable shoes sorted out soon, I am a follower of your blog too.

  9. I have been a follower of your blog for a while.
I had plantar fasciitis for 4 months last year. I had it in both feet, I could barely walk for the entire 4 months. I will pray for you. It’s terrible. I kept cans of green beans in the freezer and used them to ice my feet. They fit in the arch of the foot really well and they stay cold very long.

  10. I just signed up for the Fat Quarter newsletter, the jolly jabber and have enjoyed what I have seen so far. They do have great service standards – good company to order from.

  11. I also follow the Fat Quarter Shop Blog-as a matter of fact, I follow it twice, since that is how it shows up in my reader-twice-one right after the other. Don’t know how to fix this, afraid if I delete one, I’ll delete both. Sometimes it is just easier to go with technology rather than try to fix it.

  12. I am a follower of your blog. Thank you for a great giveaway. I really love this line of fabric “Scoot”.

  13. there are some taping techniques to support plantar fasciitis and they work quite well… of course it’s not a cure, but it might be something to try if you know you’re going to be on your feet for a while to reduce the pain. google “plantar fasciitis taping”.

and i follow your blog 😀

  14. I’m a follower! Sorry about the Plantar Fasciatis – I’ve had it and it can be so burning painful!!! You have to wear athletic shoes any time you’re on your feet (even if you get up in the night to go to the bathroom!), something that has good support. Have you tried New Balance walking shoes? I think they’d be what you need. Also – if needed you can get night splints. See: It keeps your foot in the right position while you sleep (or relax in a chair).

  15. So sorry to hear about the PF. My husband had it a few years ago and we had to tape his foot every morning and evening, but it does go away.

Thanks for the opportunity to win .

  16. I do love following your blog 🙂 but my life is too busy to also follow on facebook +/o twitter! oh well, thanks for a chance a t the giveaway ( I guess technically its still three chances 😉

  17. I am a happy regular follower of your blog! So sorry about your feet – I had the same thing (in both feet too) when I was 18 and working as a waitress during summer vacation. NOT fun, but you will soon be on the “other side” and feeling great.

  18. I follow the Jolly Jabber, and like Fat Quarter Shop on Facebook, and receive their email newsletter too.

  19. I am a regular follower!
Also I had plantar in one heel and it was from living in loose fit moccasins I reckon for years and years. I tried the shoe inserts you can buy and if you persevere with them, they do work but I gave up since they were too painful on the underside of the foot arch.
I started to wear more sensible, firm footwear with slight wedge heels, so the foot was rasied more and not as flat to the floor?
I didnt ever wear ugly ones though and trainers come in so many styles now I found plenty that were more supportive and not bad looking too! Bit by bit Ive been able to move into wearing different styles and I avoid wearing flat, flat shoes….so hope you too can find a way round the pain and discomfort too! Good luck 🙂

  20. I have PF too and I have found that just doing foot stretches every morning has helped a lot. That and wearing sandals in the house. I did shell out the big $$$ for some special shoes that are suppose to help with PF, but I haven’t found any big difference…but then again it seems to be a bit better…LOL
    I am a follower 🙂

  21. I’m a follower! I just ordered for the first time from Fat Quarter Shop and am very pleased. I bought a 12 lb fabric grab bag with 26+ yards of scrumptious fabric! I must be crazy to think I still don’t have enough 😀

  22. I hope this is open to non-US types because the material is super cute and I’d love to win some! I follow your blog 🙂

  23. So happy to join you on Facebook! I’m on that more than I follow my readers so I’ll be happy to know when you update your quilt blocks! Thanks for the chance!

  24. I’ve also ‘liked’ you on Facebook.

Great giveaway. Thank you and FQS so much.

The doctor you are being referred to will give you great suggestions on shoes. Also, I have some friends who are runners and one of the them have had some foot problems. Her best advice on shoes came from a GOOD running shoe store; not a chain store but a store that true running athletes shop at for good supportive shoes for long distance marathon running. Those people will give you great advice on shoes if you have foot problems.

  25. I follow the Fat Quarterly blog too

oh, and for plantar fasciitis, I got some lovely NHS insoles with built up arches, haven’t they offered you them? They make them to measure to fit you perfectly. Whatever you get must have goot arch support.

  26. So sorry you are having foot pain. I went through heel pain for four years, after 4 rounds of PT and one surgery, I bought a pair of what I refer to as “magic” Shape Ups by Skechers. The pain went away and has not come back. Good luck!

  27. I follow your blog! Thanks for the giveaway! You’re right– Fat Quarter Shop is a wonderful place to shop– they are so friendly and have wonderful customer service!! 🙂

  28. I follow your blog and the Jolly Jabber blog, but I won’t do the Facebook/Twitter thing. The “Hopscotch” quilt pattern is the old classic FlatIron pattern. I am dismayed.

  29. I follow you on blogloving! great to hear from you and I’m sorry about your feet (we really don’t appreciate them enough when we don’t have to think about them all the time!)

  30. I follow you with Blog Lovin’ and in RSS feed. really like these FQs. I don’t have much in my stash suitable for a little boy (or little kids for that matter)

  31. I am a follower. I too have PF symptoms though I’ve never been to the DR for true diagnosis. I’ve found that stretching the feet and wearing shoes that support my full foot help best. (I love slip on shoes and sandles but have to get some with backs and support.) It’s worth the extra bucks for better shoes. My job had me working on my feet before and had the PF symptoms in both feet also. It’s no fun. Take care of them!!

  32. I like you on Facebook. 🙂 Thanks for the awesome Giveaway by FQS. How great for the lucky winner. Love to be the lucky gal getting their fabric!

  33. I am a follower of your blog and the Fat Quarter Shop too. I have PF in one foot. I have inserts, have to wear flats, all of my heels are gathering dust. I just received a pair Dansko, yes spendy but worth it. Oh and they are red. I don’t need the insert when I wear them and my foot feels great.

  34. I’m follower to your blog.
I hope you will find a better pain relief solution to your feet. Take k!

  35. Do you like these funky looking clogs? My aunt was recommended these by her doctor a few years ago and now she never wears anything else. I wear them, too, just because they are cute. I already follow you on Bloglovin.

  36. I do follow you on BlogLovin.

Thank you and FQS for a super giveaway and a chance to win.

  37. I’m already a follower of Jolly Jabber.

Thanks again for a chance to win.

  38. I already follow you on Twitter. (@usairdoll)

  39. I’m a follower of your blog 🙂 I also am your fabric-love twin, lol…love ALL of those, and I’ve been eyeing the Scoot on the Fat Quarter Shop emails!

  40. Hi, I follow SewHappyGeek! Thanks for the great giveaway, I love the Imperial Pheasant fabric collection, too!
