I’ve decided to join Meg from Fashioned by Meg in her Finish It Up! pledge to get at least some of those WIPs out of my little sewing room. I won’t list everything because I’m embarrassed about how many I actually have, but here are the most important ones:
- Layer Cake Quilt I’m making for Mother Outlaw for Xmas
- Bonnie’s mug rug 🙂
- Ele’s baby quilt (still needs to be basted and quilted)
- Jersey knit tunic that I cut out and never did anything with – why did I do that?
- Crewel embroidery cushion that has turned into a 7 year plan
- That damn apron I’m in the middle of which I now hate with a passion usually reserved for Tory politicians
- the Amazing Fit Simplicity skirt which I cut out of old bedsheets to test the sizing and fit – if it’s only old bedsheets and I haven’t actually started sewing it yet, is it permissible to throw the stupid thing away? What was I thinking??! Honestly.
This is in addition to all the new things I’m going to start in an effort to write and sell more patterns for quilts and handbags, so one day a week is probably all I can promise right now anyway.
So if you have a bunch of WIPs sitting around your sewing room, glaring at you accusingly every time you walk in the door, you might want to consider joining Meg’s Finish It Up! challenge too.

Yay! So glad you are joining! I am going to to say yes to throwing it away or at least scrapping it! ;0p I have given myself permission to do that on a couple of projects.
Woo! Mug rug! Woo! Most of my WIPS are of the knitting persuasion, as I tend to get a bit…..obsessed…shall we say, with sewing projects. To me, sewing is such an “instant gratification” thing, that I MUST get it done in one go! Knitting projects? Not so much. That’s where the ADD kicks in, I see a new project and go “oooh, shiny!” and abandon whatever I’m currently working on. LOL!
Tee hee. That title made me giggle. I don’t think I *dare* sign up to anything at the moment, but good on you for doing so. The number of WIPs I have is something quite scary, so listing them out would be a step too far!! 😉

I was feeling a teensy bitsmug, thinking I only had a couple of purses that needed finsishing off. That is until I remembered the other things lurking in my flat; like a skirt, a handbag, another handbag that needs lining, felt flowers half felted, felt flowers that need beads… need I go on?! Smugness duly smacked and chastised!
I really think I shall have to join in won’t I?
