I don’t know about you, but I am a perfectionist, a planner and an organizer. Who knows if I was born with it or it has just been something that’s developed.
My mother told me stories that I never needed prompted to do homework in grade school. Hmmm … I don’t seem to remember that. 🙂 Now as an adult in my day job, I organize things, tell people what to do and talk on the phone. My father said this is the perfect job for me for sure. I have to say that I’m pretty darn good at what I do. It’s because I keep learning from the things I do wrong.
Getting into any craft, including knitting and quilting, I’ve brought my personality into it.
But here’s the thing, I’m usually very hard on my own work. I want to be perfect at everything I do instantly. And when I don’t get it, ohhh I get pretty mad at myself.
Yeah, but you don’t see the mistakes I make!
Yes, I have a blog and I love connecting with people. Most of the time I sew up something wrong and my trusty seam ripper becomes my best friend.
But you know what? It’s not that big of a deal anymore. You just gotta learn to roll with it.
Well, that’s hard to do but wow, when you let go and just let mistakes happen and learn from it all, crafting is pretty grand. And if you can learn that in craft, you can apply it to life. The things that have happened in my life the last few years, everything going so much faster, but the distraction of craft … life is fuller, mistakes and all.
You are all reading Jenna’s blog for a reason, and if you are like me it’s because she’s amazing, but also because there is something about her. ♥
So keep it up! I love all the things that I’m learning from all my bloggy, twitter, pinterest and flickr friends is that we are doing just great, mistakes and all. What an inspiration you all are!
Thanks for letting me post for you dearest Jenna, and here’s to you being 100 percent soon.
Oh, you would cringe if you saw me craft. I have the ‘bull at a gate’ approach to things, but I take everything as a learning experience lol
Very sage advice,thanks for sharing.
Hope each new day you are just that much closer to being back to your same ole self!
This applies to me too, I might stick some of these quotes on the wall where I sew!!
Great post 🙂
Shanna – first rule of quilt club – the seam ripper is your friend.
If we can’t roll with it with our ownselves, how can we tell others to do the same? You are a wonderful crafter and bring much fun and sensibility to our quilter world. You make life fuller, my friend!
