My Giveaway Gets Bigger & StudioKat Handbag Patterns

You might have noticed I’ve got a new sponsor, Studio Kat Designs. Kat designs some seriously adorable and extremely practical handbag patterns and other nifty supplies. I asked if I could review one for her Welcome post, and look what I got! 2 lovely patterns from the lovely postie! I am so excited to try them. What I CAN tell you is that they’re very well written and very easy to follow. Making handbags is kind of a sub-section of sewing, unlike clothing or quilting. But if you’re scared to take the plunge into using your yummy fabrics for your own handbag (hello One of a Kind!), let me tell you – her patterns are tops.

So when I stop feeling full of cold and get back in my sewing room, I’ll be working on one of these and I promise I’ll give you an honest review of my experience. And remember, my friends, I’ve only been sewing for like 2 years. So if I can do it, you can. (Actually, that leads me to a thought – how much fun would it be to have a Sew Along of one of Studio Kat’s lovely handbags?)

Oh, and there comes a time when quilters with limited storage capacity (me!) must look at their stash and ask themselves: Am I really going to use This Fabric? And when the answer is…Hmmmm, probably not?, the quilter knows it’s time to share it with someone who will appreciate the fabric and even use it. Right? So I’m throwing more goodies into yesterday’s giveaway. Don’t worry, if you’re already signed up for it, you don’t have to do anything! Here’s what I’m throwing in:

There are 2 Lily & Will charm packs and 5 FQs that I think I’ve cut into a little bit. So 2 lovely people will receive a charm pack and some of that FQ bundle in the background. Not bad, eh? A 9 fat quarter bundle + charm packs + matching yardage? Cha-ching! So if you haven’t signed up, get on over there!

I really value you as a reader and follower, and I’d like to ask you to consider following me on BlogLovin’, a free service built specifically for people to follow their favourite blogs, or by Feedburner, which is an RSS feed. Thanks!! πŸ™‚

  1. Those look like some fun handbag patterns. I look forward to your review of them. And I am always interested in sew alongs – especially bags!

  2. Good luck with the bag making, I’m sure you’ll do fine! I have to admit to buying quilting fabric especially for bag making (*gasp*) I keep it separate from my fabric that’s actually for quilting though πŸ˜‰

Lovely new donations to the giveaway too, thanks πŸ™‚

  3. I have made one of her handbags. It was the harmony bag. I love it! I have another pattern but I have not decided of fabric yet. I have been sewing for years plus college. I took a big gulp when I opened the pattern directions and saw 47 steps! The directions were so detailed and easy to follow and the finished product is fantastic. Have fun with your sew a-long!

  4. I’m sorry you are still feeling crummy. I have made 2 hand bags and I bought a kit to make a third this past Christmas. They intimidate me but I want to make them, more because it is something to conquer than something I will really use. I have given away one of the creations and the other has turned into a diaper bag of sorts. Handbags are special (and tricky) to me because of all the seams and most especially zippers, buttons, and snaps. Can’t wait for your review!

  5. I love making bags, I started off making bridesmaid bags for my son’s fiancee last year and never stopped! If you have a sew-along count me in, you can never have too many bags πŸ™‚

  6. I really want to learn how to make a bag—just got to get my feet wet! Those patterns look nice, and if they are detailed, all the better!

  7. I really like making bags too. The more pockets on them the better they will be for me. Also have tried putting zippers in them. Really nice experience. Like the fabrics you’re giving away. Thanks for the opportunity to win.

  9. Oh awesome. I LOVE Studio Kat’s bag. She really puts a lot of thought (and also reader input) into her patterns. And if you aren’t signed up for her newsletter DO IT! And if you love cats, sign up for that newsletter now. She’s got some great cat things in her newletters. I look forward to each one arriving.

And that fabric? Wow. LOVE it.
