Some Quality Swooning Time

Hey, did you leave a link on Manic Monday Linky Party? You still can!

I can’t quite remember when it was, but I joined Katy of I’m a Ginger Monkey’s Swoon-Along many, many weeks ago. In typical SewHappyGeek fashion, I immediately got busy and made 2 blocks straight away. They’re pretty big blocks – 24″ – and that’s like making 4x 12″ blocks. They’re not quick to piece, is what I’m trying to get across…

Then I put everything in a plastic bag and left it for weeks and weeks. My original thought was that if I only made one a month, I’d have a lap quilt by my birthday (6 May).

Then I got asked by TWO different quilt groups if I’d be willing to speak to them. And promptly realised I don’t have anywhere near enough work around my house to keep anyone entertained for more than ten minutes. I gave a lot of my early stuff away as gifts. Actually, I still give a lot of quilts away.

But I also have a lot of WIPs and, yes, even UFOs. So I have decided that whatever quilt tops and blocks are lying around are GOING. TO. GET. FINISHED. whether they like it or not. I finished this quilt top Sunday night so I could take it to class on Monday to baste on the tables. So in between everything I have to do today, I’ll be adding a few lines of quilting. Nothing fancy, just quick quilting to get it out of my studio. Then I’ll start on the next one I basted Monday (made back in May/June 2011), and FINALLY I’ll get back to piecing my own designs with a view to selling them as patterns! Hurray!

So that’s my day. What’s yours? I’ll be on Twitter intermittently so give me a shout!

P.S. Because the Google Overlords want to force the entire planet into using their crappy social application, my Google Friend Connect has been cancelled. But you can still get me in your Google Reader (or any other reader) by clicking on the Feedburner (RSS) link below. 🙂

  1. Hi ! The swoon blocks are beautiful, a lot of work in them I can see why they are not quick to sew. With your goals in place looks like a lap quilt by May!!

  2. I just got this pattern last night and have searching for what I want for background. I had thought grey and now that I see yours really like it!!!!! Looks great.
